FAQ’S
Questions?
We have answers
ZING is the first robotic methadone dose assembly system. It is an accessory to the methadone pump and facilitates the pumping, capping, labeling, heat foil sealing, and barcode scanning of each dose.
No, ZING is not a methadone pump. ZING connects to the clinic’s methadone pump.
No, ZING is not a stand-alone system. For ZING to process an order, an authorized user (i.e., nurse or pharmacist) must send an order from the electronic medical record (EMR) to ZING, and a compatible methadone pump must be connected.
SciLog LabTec® or IVEK Digispense® 1000 methadone pumps.
Methasoft™ is the first EMR to integrate with ZING. We are integrating with other EMRs. For inquiries and requests, please contact hello@opioconnect.com.
ZING receives orders from the EMR dosing screen using the same buttons. Orders can be sent from multiple workstations and are queued (like a printer), processing orders in the order in which they are received. Orders in the queue can be canceled, paused, or moved to high priority to process first.
Yes, orders are processed individually, meaning the doses for a specific patient order will be pushed out of ZING on a single tray.
No; all recordkeeping and inventory tracking is performed and maintained by the electronic medical record, just as it currently is.
Approximately 4.5 minutes.
Pump calibration and maintenance are performed the same way – through the electronic medical record on the computer on ZING.
ZING enables a variety of workflow options:
– Take-out only mode: The window dose is pumped at the window, and the take-outs are sent to ZING
– Batch all mode: All doses are sent to ZING, including the window dose
– Prepour mode: Doses are made in advance (Methasoft will be complete in Q4 2023)
ZING uses a 30 mL wide-mouth packer bottle, a 28 mm child-proof foil seal cap, and specific labels provided by MedSTAT (www.medstatsupplies.com).
Yes, ZING heat seals the foil caps.
ZING can process any number of doses; however, each tray can hold a maximum of 28 doses. For example, if there were an order for 56 doses, ZING would process the order as two trays of 28 doses.
Only authorized users (i.e., nurses, pharmacists), as determined by OTP admin, will have login credentials to access ZING.
Yes, split doses are no problem for ZING.
The DEA has been very supportive of ZING, with approval in multiple states.
ZING’s advanced technology enables pharmacists to remotely review and approve doses.
